Two high-profile private schools in Lagos, Grange School and Avi-Cenna International School, both located in Ikeja GRA, have been shut down following an alleged bomb threat targeting their premises.
Although the source of the threat has not been established, the schools immediately alerted parents through official communication, advising them not to send their children to school for the remainder of the week.
The schools also announced that classes would resume on Monday under tightened security arrangements.
Measures to be introduced include restricted access to school premises, password-based entry protocols and a directive preventing parents from remaining on campus after dropping off their wards.
Meanwhile, Greensprings School, another elite institution with campuses in Lekki and other parts of Lagos, said it has taken precautionary steps to reassure parents of the safety of its students and staff.
In a letter to parents, the school confirmed that it was aware of reports of a security-related incident involving two schools in the Ikeja area, noting that the affected schools had received threat messages and had promptly notified security agencies, which are now handling the situation.
Greensprings stressed that it had not received any threat and that there was no indication that any of its campuses were at risk.
It added that it remains in constant communication with security agencies and its private security consultants as developments are closely monitored.
However, the school disclosed that, as a precautionary measure, one of its campuses located close to the affected area would close earlier than usual for the day, with parents already contacted regarding specific dismissal arrangements.
Reassuring parents, Greensprings said the safety and wellbeing of its students, staff and families remain its top priority, describing the measures taken as proactive steps to maintain calm, order and security.
Further updates, the school said, would be communicated if necessary.
